Eye on the Prize

Ashton Eaton, in Runner's World magazine
29 May 2012

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the Prize?

Run in such a way as to get the Prize.

.
Let us throw off everything that hinders
and the sin that so easily entangles us.

And let us run with perseverance

the race marked out for us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus,
the pioneer and perfecter of our faith."

Thank You, Bill

"Then the King will say to those on his right,

‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance,
the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

The Magical Book of My Master

"The Embezzler's Story", Chapter 25

No me conclaves

Podemos cambiar esto · We Can Change This

(¿Me ayudas a pintar?)

* * * * *

Why should we give up?
The power is found in small gestures every day,
love shown to our neighbour.

Yes, we have a lot of problems.
And, yes, we can solve them.

Let's get to work! (Wanna help me paint?)

Kum ba ya, My Lord, Come By Here...

Se ruega silencio.
Silenci! Silenzio!
Silence, please!

 Lord Jesus, come soon.
Come cleanse Your Temple.

Speed the Light

[Fo'tis'ma] from Salomon on Vimeo.

Religion, as a system, is gray. It kills and enslaves.
Knowing God, however, and following Him is Life's True Adventure.

Speed the Light.

* * * * *

This Night

This Night brings me close to You,
My truest, dearest friend.

It quiets my heart, and drops my gaze,
as I follow, forlorn,
the muddied footprints that led
to the Garden,
in the rain.

***

But first,
there was the Glow.

That last meal,
the very last night.
God with us, here at table,
on Earth.

And I savour a vision of that last dinner
You must have enjoyed.

With Your brothers:

The final traces of candlelight and cameraderie.
The warmth of bread broken, and wine shared.
The intimate revelations and last advice.

The quiet, the laughter, the Humanity.

And then:

The bewildered looks, the blind stares.
The whispered exchanges,
a sudden slamming of a door
as Judas left the circle, furious,
exposed at last:
rafters shaking as he flew forth.

***

And it was Night.

And it was cold. So forsaken.
Frozen and lonely, chilled to the bone.
Evil lurking in ghostly olive trees,
distant torches casting ominous shadows
that clawed forward, greedily pulling you in,

Royalty suddenly forgotten,
oh mere son... of Man.

Reed now broken, bright Candle
burnt out.

Broken by our humanity,
Broken for me.

Broken, this Night.

Lluvia santa

Llueve en Sevilla.
Fastidias la fiesta, Maestro.
Y me haces sonreír:

¡FUERA!.

Dices que no quieres sacrificios, ni shows
.

Hoy, tan solo, abandonado
como en esa Noche Terrible.

¿O puede que llores sin cesar,
por las mujeres matadas,
los niños abusados,
empresarios cínicos,
políticos corruptos...?
Y por una Religión muerta
que nos deja
frustrados
asfixiados
y encerrados
en una oscuridad más pesada
que una tumba.

Pero es la lluvia
lo que más necesitamos.
¡Que llueva en España!
Toda la santa semana.

Derrama más, Agua Viva.
Más... y más... y más.

Abre las fuentes, ordena tormentas.
Día y noche, sin parar.

***

Te buscaremos allí, agradecidos.
Saltaremos, jugaremos,

Considerad los cuervos, que ni siembran ni siegan;
Dios los alimenta;

Si vosotros, pues, no podéis hacer algo tan pequeño,
¿por qué os preocupáis por lo demás?

Considerad los lirios, cómo crecen;
no trabajan ni hilan; pero os digo
que ni Salomón en toda su gloria
se vistió como uno de éstos."

Like A Child Como un niño

Jesus told them,

"Truly I say to you, unless you repent and change, turn around
and become like little children: trusting, lowly, loving, and forgiving,
you can never enter the kingdom of heaven at all.

Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child,
trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

The Pope's Speech · El Discurso del Papa

THE POPE'S SPEECH
(Were I to be his advisor and speechwriter)

----------------------

Madrid, 20 August 2011
Excerpt:

"True to the Life and Message of my Master, Jesus the Christ, I have ordered all costs of my visit to Spain to be paid from the Vatican Treasury.

I am hereby selling all of my palaces and will take up residence in Rome with Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity. I will be wearing very simple clothing from now on, similar to that of my Lord, and will spend a quarter of each year serving in the world's most desperate slums. I will be especially dedicated to the absolute eradication of human slavery and child pornography.

The funds of the sale of my residences will be used to heal and educate the world's poorest children, and to tell them the Good News: that Jesus died and rose again from the dead to restore, pardon them and give them full, meaningful, joyous lives now, and eternal life as they follow Him in love.

The Vatican Museum will sell half of its treasures to private art collectors and donate the other half to museums around the globe. These funds will be used to find a cure for AIDS and to care for and educate AIDS orphans and their families.

I urge all those who call themselves Christians to seek an intimate relationship with their Lord Jesus, to know Him and love Him deeply, and to dedicate their lives to serving others in His Name."

¡no tolero iniquidad y asamblea solemne!

Vuestras lunas nuevas y vuestras fiestas señaladas las aborrece Mi alma;
se han vuelto una carga para mí,
estoy cansado de soportarlas...

Lavaos, limpiaos,
quitad la maldad de vuestras obras de delante de Mis ojos;
cesad de hacer el mal,

Aprended a hacer el bien,
buscad la justicia,
reprended al opresor,
defended al huérfano,
abogad por la viuda.

Venid ahora, y razonemos
dice el Señor,
aunque vuestros pecados sean como la grana,
como la nieve serán emblanquecidos;
aunque sean rojos como el carmesí,
como blanca lana quedarán."
---

Amazing Grace

Soaring --
unfettered at last,
Startled, even shaken
by New Revelations
not unlike Peter's uncommon
meal, in the hot afternoon sun
that day in Joppa,
a crazy-quilt tablecloth
heaven-borne, three times,
to get his attention,
to shake him to the core,
to announce:
NOW ALL IS NEW.

It's shocking,
this "Galations Freedom".
Unsettling, scandalous even.

The Law is hard to cut loose.
The shackles that brought
order
security
that sure sense
of accomplishment, -- of tasks checked off the list --
chafed and tore,
cut our skin and numbed our hearts
to thoughtless obedience,
or fearful shirking.

What to do with this Freedom?
How to handle the New Rules,
tied round my heart with delicate
tracings,
spiderweb-like --
so easily melted by Temptation's glare.
Tied from my heart to Your's
My Tender Lover,
My Best Friend,
My All-in-All,
My King.

The weight of Sinai crashed down
on Peter's afternoon spread.
KILL AND EAT!, You command.
Yet Lord? How is that which was
unclean
now to be clean?
This dizzyness,
this falling
into
a
weightless
flight,
times almost dreamy,
like smitten lovers muse...

Where is it to lead?
How can it be true?
Why do our hearts burn so within us
at this News
of this great Grace,
this Love
so amazing,
so real,
so true?

What Does Love Look Like?

A beautiful cover by Misty Edwards...
A very tender and moving song. Unforgettable.

Una bellísima canción de Misty Edwards...
Un tema muy tierno y conmovedor. Inolvidable

Ver en YouTube: http://youtu.be/f2ZCIp0HiRo

[ Meet Misty Edwards · Interview ]

What Does Love Look Like?

“What does love look like?” is the question I’ve been pondering
“What does love look like?”
“What does love look like?” is the question I’ve been asking of You

I once believed that love was romance, just a chance
I even thought that love was for the lucky and the beautiful
I once believed that love was a momentary bliss

But love is more than this

All You ever wanted was my attention
All You ever wanted was love from me
All You ever wanted was my affections, to sit here at Your feet
Then tell me

“What does love look like?” is the question I’ve been pondering
“What does love look like?”

Then I sat down, a little frustrated and confused
If all of life comes down to love
Then love has to be more than sentiment
More than selfishness and selfish gain

And then I saw Him there, hanging on a tree, looking at me
I saw Him there, hanging on a tree, looking at me
He was looking at me, looking at Him, staring through me
I could not escape those beautiful eyes
And I began to weep and weep

He had arms wide open, a heart exposed
Arms wide open; He was bleeding, bleeding

Love’s definition, love’s definition was looking at me
Looking at Him, hanging on a tree
I began to weep and weep and weep and weep

This is how I know what love is, this is how I know what love is

And as I sat there weeping, crying
Those beautiful eyes, full of desire and love
He said to me:

“You shall love Me, You shall love Me
You shall love Me, You shall love Me”

With arms wide open, a heart exposed
With arms wide open, bleeding, sometimes bleeding

If anybody’s looking for love in all the wrong places
If you’ve been searching for love, come to Me, come to Me
Take up your cross, deny yourself
Forget your father’s house and run, run with Me
You were made for abandonment, wholeheartedness
You were made for someone greater, someone bigger,
so follow Me

And you’ll come alive when you learn to die
